MSHCA | SNDA | SNMA

Multicultural Student Health Care Association (MSHCA) – was organized to represent the needs of all students from all disciplines here at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. It was designed to give students from each of the schools an opportunity to share their cultural experiences and explore differences in a significant way, as well as to give them a meaningful voice in the productivity and advancement of their school and to serve their community. It is intended to serve as a forum by which all students at the Medical Center can assemble and address common issues and engage in both academic and social activities of common interest.

Student National Dental Association (SNDA) originated from concerned dental students at Meharry Medical College in 1970. Since then its numbers have grown tremendously. Of the 21,000 dental students in dental schools across America, the SNDA has grown to approximately 1,100 underrepresented dental student members with African-American, Hispanic, and Native background.

Since 1970, SNDA has become an integral diverse student and dental health clinicians association, with the ultimate goal of improving the health manpower distribution among the underrepresented/underserved population as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is an organization, which was founded in 1964 by students at Howard University School of Medicine and at Meharry Medical College. The students recognized the need for more and better care in the under represented minority and indigent communities. SNMA has grown now to include 10 regions, which include over 135 chapters. SNMA provides support for minority medical students and aids students in extending services to surrounding communities.
