Science Training and Education Program (STEP)
Science Training and Education Program (STEP) is designed to provide academic enrichment in math, science, and critical thinking for disadvantaged/underserved (economically, academically disadvantaged) students. It is a Saturday Institute which serves disadvantaged students in grades 6-8. STEP encourages students to be academically successful and increases their awareness of health careers. STEP meets one Saturday each month during the school year. |

In 2009-2010, the focus was on the human heart, using a curriculum developed by the Association of Black Cardiologists. During the 2010-2011 STEP Program, the human kidney was the health focus in partnership with the Mississippi Kidney Foundation. "The Brilliant Brain" is the health theme for 2011-2012. |
